  • To pilot test courses which present challenges to the Jordanian educational institutions and aviation industry

  • To establish knowledge transfer and collaboration between European and Jordanian educational institutes

 

Description
  • EU Best Practices: Desk research on EU best practices in the field of IVET programmes on Safety Management Systems (SMS) for Civil Aviation
  • Focus groups with industry: Proactive involvement of the industry in the design of the VET curriculum will be sought throughout the project. A focus group with industrial partners will introduce then in the curriculum design process. EU best practices and Jordanian experience will be discussed during the focus group. Minimum participants 10
  • Curriculum Macrostructure: The proposed Technical Diploma in Aviation Safety Management System will be designed as a 2 years curriculum, equal to 72 Credit Hours (C.H.). It will include: Generic Skills (12 C.H) – 4 courses Employability Skills (6 C.H) – 2 courses Supportive Sciences (6-9 C.H) – 2 - 3 courses Specialization Skills (45-48 C.H) – 15 – 16 courses 140 contact field training hours in a related establishment. Criteria for selection of candidates & criteria for successful attendance. The above is in accordance to Jordanian regulation for accreditation of IVET. At this stage, with the active involvement and recommendation of the industry, the selection of obligatory and selective course will be made.
  • Equipment: Equipment will be bought for the needs of the trainees. Provision will be taken as to acquisition of equipment as early in the project as possible. Equipment specifications will be decided as early as the KoM, sent to the PO for approvement and the tendering procedures should begin by M4. Equipment consists of training software (licence shared by all partners) and digitalization equipment for creating prototypes during courses (3D printers and 3D scanners)
  • Curriculum Microstructure: This stage involves the development of lesson folders for all curriculum courses. The folders should include all necessary for the accreditation information, including course contain, prior assumed knowledge, educational resources, educational outcomes, student evaluation process, student effort, C.H. Jordanian partners are responsible for courses description but effort is divided between all partners
  • Courses Development: 6 Specialization courses will be fully developed, selection will take into account the opinion of industrial stakeholders and the need for piloting and finetuning subject that Jordanian partners feel they need more support. Jordanian partners are responsible for courses development but effort is divided between all partners. During M15 3 European experts (UAEGEAN, ESTU & KSU) will make a field visit to enhance collaboration and output quality
  • Piloting of Courses: The 6 developed courses will be piloted during Summer, Autumn and Spring semesters, both in English and Arabic by JUST, BAU and AAU. Laboratory training for all students will be provided by MEAA. At least 20 students will pilot each course. Women involvement will be proactively supported. No more than 2/3 of the participants shall be of the same gender (nonbinary). It this goal is not possible to be achieved, permission from the P.O will be asked to lower this percentage. Piloting will be offered for free to trainees and they will receive a certificate of attendance after successful evaluation. The contain of these courses will be under CC-BY-NC-AS 4.0 licence.
  • Curriculum Finalisation: Piloting, feedback from trainees and roundtables (WP5) will allow to finetune the 6 prepared courses and to review the proposed curriculum microstructure, always in compliance with the accreditation procedures
  • Curriculum Accreditation: BAU is responsible by law for the accreditation of this kind of technical diplomas offered be tertiary education institutions in Jordan and will monitor the hole accreditation procedures
